Day 1: Woke up to Freedom Writers and as cheesy as I think the movie is, it reminded me of my first student teaching assignment, the personal connections I made with my students and the journals I left them with (I wrote a note in each of them). It reminded me of the educational mission that I set out on; to provide the hope, love, peace, positivity, and inspiration students like myself so desperately need, to be a bright light and positive influence for these students. It reminded me of the demographic of students that I have always sought (consciously and subconsciously) to work with. It was just what I needed and it made me happy! It reminded me of why I am a teacher

So what are you, what are you, what are you so afraid of?
Darling you, you give but you cannot take love

Beauty Tip Tuesday: Ladies (and long haired gentleman) the winter can really dry out your hair. Using heat and irons will dry it out even more. Here’s an alternative to heat styling. After I wash and deep condition my hair, I remove most of the dampness with my dryer on low temp heat. Then I use a conditioning serum (ie Morrocan oil) and put my hair in a single braid (or 2, depending on how small I want the waves to be). Then I let my hair dry naturally in the braid. When I’m ready to go out, I take out the braid and my hair is set in a natural wave pattern. Add shine serum if necessary. You can also do this every night before you go to sleep, to save styling time in the morning. (You can also try this with Bantu knots and/small buns). Enjoy! ๐Ÿ’†๐Ÿ™†๐Ÿ’ xo
